A New Method for Chemical Modification of Conducting Polypyrroles

Abstract

Chemical modification of polypyrroles derived from acenaphtho[1,2-c]pyrroles provides a new strategy for functionalization of conducting polymers without destroying their conductivity. By this method, a new soluble and low band gap polypyrrole was obtained, which may be useful as a stable material for electrochromic or light emitting devices.
