Interfacial Redox Behavior of Mono- and Multilayers of Tetrathiafulvalene Terminated Alkane-Tetrathiol on Gold Electrode

Abstract

A new tetrathiol bearing tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) as a redox active group has been synthesized. The tetrathiol provided the monolayer by self-assembly method and the multilayer by repeated electrochemical oxidation on gold electrode. The properties of mono- and multilayers with TTF-tetrathiol have been studied by cyclic voltammetry. It was found that the mono- and multilayers containing TTF molecule induced by alkyl-tetrathiol were remarkably stable films.
