Microstructural Analysis of Carbon Fiber for Lithium Rechargeable Battery

Abstract

Electrochemical properties of carbon fiber was investigated in order to find the relation between structure of carbons and performances as a negative electrode of lithium rechargeable batteries. In this study, we have studied microstructure of lithium intercalated carbn fiber using scanning electron microscope and x-ray diffractommetry. From SEM results of carbon fiber, film formed on the surface of carbon fiber appeared after discharging and disappeared after charging. X-ray diffractommetry of carbon fiber showed same results.
