Abstract
Alkyl groups in trialkylboranes were successfully transferred to carbonyl compounds upon electrolysis with sacrifiai anodes to produce various substituted alcohols in good to fair yields. This new, mild electrochemical alkyl transfer reaction is described. Our new electrochemical method for the synthesis of alcohols can be especially useful for the systems where organometallic addition reactions cannot be employed.
