Abstract
Wavy hair, while having better coverage capacity than straight hair, is more challenging to harvest as hair shaft transection is more likely to occur. The transplantation surgeon has to be aware that waviness occurs along the full length of the hair follicle. Extra care should therefore be given to harvesting wavy hair to ensure having intact follicles. There are certain tips and practice recommendations for harvesting the wavy follicular units from the donor area either with the strip technique or follicular unit extraction method. With both techniques an experienced surgeon leading an experienced team of assistants is an essential step to having a good outcome.
