Abstract

This chapter focuses on the role played by nanocapsules such as polymeric micelles in the field of topical and transdermal delivery. First the mechanisms of micelle assembly are explained. This is followed by an overview of excipients, preparation methods, and characterization techniques. The final section summarizes the work done to date using polymeric micelles as topical and transdermal drug carriers and reviews their potential as (per)cutaneous drug delivery systems.
