In this chapter, based on our experience at AIMR, Tohoku University, we describe the possible innovation that can be derived from mathematics–materials science collaborations. We believe that such collaborations need time to blossom, and once fields of common interest are integrated under a single interdisciplinary fusion, research will expand shared knowledge and advance science in new directions.
