Abstract
In Sect. 3.4.2, we discuss interface metallic states by interfacial symmetry. The Fermi surface of the interface states form loops, and these metallic states are topologically protected by the interfacial particle-hole symmetry. Here, we give detailed calculations of the classification by interfacial symmetries (Sect. 3.4.2) and of the derivation of the condition of the emergence of the Fermi loop (Eq. 3.67) when the two regions are band insulators respectively. This condition is obtained when the hybridization at the interface is weak.
