Abstract

Setting a short residence time in a precisely controlled manner using the flow microreactor system consisting of micromixers and a flow microreactor allows short-lived reactive species, which are considered so unstable that can be handled only at extremely low temperatures, to be usable before the species decompose. The temperature–residence time maps are highly useful in analyzing the reactions and optimizing the reaction conditions. Such approaches enable the generation of aryllithium species bearing ester carbonyl groups and allow them to react with subsequently added electrophiles.
