Abstract

Fundamentals of observational techniques in radio astronomy are overviewed. They include atmospheric transmission, telescope antenna, frontend receivers, and radio spectrometers. Methods of intensity calibrations and measurements of a system noise temperature are described. A brief introduction to aperture synthesis telescopes (interferometers) is also given.
