Column 6. Diagnosis of Anaplastic Carcinoma
Since anaplastic thyroid carcinoma has an extremely dire prognosis, multimodality therapy is performed. The diagnosis can be divided into two stages: “qualitative diagnosis” during which suspicion of anaplastic carcinoma is confirmed and definitive diagnosis is made and “quantitative diagnosis” during which strategies are established for multimodality therapy .
