Abstract

In this chapter, we describe the sampling of biological materials by using an example of the removal of the brain from a mouse and its cryopreservation. When we use a biomaterial as an IMS sample, one aspect that must be taken into account is an accurate reflection of the ante mortem conditions of the living being as far as possible by extracting the sample as soon as the animal dies. We describe the methods often used for mice regarding euthanasia and removal and freezing of the mouse brain.
