Schmerzen bestehen meist in einer ganzen Körperhälfte nach Schädigung zentraler Hirnstrukturen des spinothalamischen Systems durch vaskuläre, tumoröse oder entzündliche Hirnläsionen unterschiedlicher Lokalisation und Ausdehnung.
