Zusammenfassung
Die Heimat der nordamerikanischen Pueblo-BewohnerInnen war und ist ein gewaltiges, wüstenartiges Hochland innerhalb der heutigen US-Staaten Arizona und Neu Mexiko. Nur wenige Flüsse durchziehen die weite, trockene Region. Vereinzelt erheben sich mächtige Hochplateaus oder auch bizarre, manchmal auf geheimnisvolle Weise feierlich anmutende Felsformationen aus der geradezu grenzenlos scheinenden, ebenen Weite. Einzigartige natürliche Bedingungen wie die außergewöhnlich vielfältigen Farbschattierungen von Erde und Fels, die klare Höhenluft und der strahlend blaue Himmel, verursachen ein von Sonnenaufgang bis Sonnenuntergang ständig wechselndes, oftmals geradezu spektakuläres Farbenspiel. Standen Hopi-Frauen am Rande der tiefabfallenden, felsigen Steilhänge ihrer heimatlichen Mesas, bot sich ihnen ein grandioser Blick über das weite, flache, wüstenhafte Land.
