Feministinnen, die sich kritisch mit der Politik und dem politischen System Großbritanniens auseinandersetzen, stimmen überein „that its organisations and structures institutionalise the predominance of particular masculinities, thereby empowering and/or advantaging certain men over almost all women and some men“ (Lovenduski 1996, S. 5). In diesem Kapitel wird die Entwicklung der politischen Partizipation von Frauen in Großbritannien respektive ihre Rolle in politischen Institutionen erörtert, und es wird den dominierenden Formen von Männlichkeit in der britischen Politik nachgegangen.
