Der Begriff der Determinante erweist sich als wichtiges Hilfsmittel bei der Untersuchung von Pragestellungen aus der Matrizentheorie. Determinanten von Matrizen A ∈ ℝ3,3 sind uns bereits in Kapitel 8 (vgl. dort (6) und (7)) als sogenannte Spatprodukte begegnet, die wir auch geometrisch deuten konnten.
