Der nachfolgende Artikel betrachtet die Korruption und die Formen ihrer Bekämpfung in der ehemaligen britischen Kronkolonie und heutigen chinesischen Sonderverwaltungsregion Hongkong. Die ca. 7 Millionen Einwohner zählende Stadt gilt unter Experten als Beispiel erfolgreicher staatlicher Korruptionsbekämpfung und vielfältige quantitative Datensätze (Umfragedaten) von unabhängigen Institutionen belegen die im internationalen Vergleich geringe Korruptionsverbreitung. Allerdings waren die Korruptionsraten nicht immer so niedrig, sondern wurden erst durch die massive Bekämpfung ab den siebziger Jahren erreicht. Die erfolgreiche wirtschaftliche Entwicklung Hongkongs scheint von den hohen Korruptionsraten zunächst nicht behindert worden zu sein, seit dem Beginn der vehementen Korruptionsbekämpfung wird von offizieller Seite aber ein enger Zusammenhang zwischen der geringen Verbreitung von Korruption und wirtschaftlicher Prosperität betont. Die heutige gute Korruptionsbilanz gilt als Wettbewerbsvorteil gegenüber anderen aufstrebenden chinesischen Küstenstädten, steht jedoch nicht zuletzt durch die sozioökonomischen und politischen Veränderungen durch die Übergabe Hongkongs an die VR China im Jahre 1997 vor zahlreichen Herausforderungen.
