Unternehmensberatung ist in nahezu allen westlichen Volkwirtschaften ein wichtiger Geschäftssektor, in dem insbesondere die IT-nahe Beratung, hier vor allem Beratung im Bereich des Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), eine zentrale Rolle spielt [Simo2002]; [Feac2004]; [Free2004]; [KKKi2005]. Dabei kann ITBeratung als spezifischer situativer Kontext der Veränderung eines sozitechnischen Systems verstanden werden, der technologische wie auch organisatorische Dimensionen umfasst. Auch existieren zahlreiche Ansätze zur wissenschaftlichen Untersuchung der (IT-)Beratung, in denen vor allem die inhaltlichnormative Dimension im Zentrum steht, bspw. wie ein Unternehmen Wünschenswerterweise organisiert sein sollte. Prozessuale Perspektiven auf IT-Beratung hingegen erarbeiten zumeist Projektmanagementleitlinien, die häufig die Perspektive des Beraters einnehmen bzw. teilen [Cope2003]. Trotz der enormen Bedeutung der politischen Dimensionen organisationaler Veränderungsprozesse [BoPo1983]; [Mark1983]; [HiNe1991], ist dieses Forschungsfeld jedoch bislang kaum hinreichend erschlossen [KnMu1994]; [WiHo2005]. An dieser Stelle eröffnen die System- und Governance-Theorie eine mögliche Perspektive zur Analyse und Gestaltung von IT-Beratungsprozessen. Zum einen liefert die Systemtheorie einen theoretischen Rahmen zur Analyse und Intervention organisationaler Systeme [Chur1971]; [Beer1985]; [ChSc1990]. Zum anderen, basierend auf der Systemtheorie, betont die Governance-Theorie, dass Systemregulationen/-interventionen keine externen, sondern systeminterne Prozesse sind. Systems und hinterfragt die Dichotomie zwischen einem systemexternen Regulator und dem regulierten System [MaSc1995]; [Mayn1998]; [Scha2000]. Der Untersuchungsraum schließt daher jegliche für das System relevanten Prozesse und Akteure mit ein, insbesondere vermeintlich Externe. In der Konsequenz führt die Governance-theoretische Analyse von IT-Beratungsprozessen zu einer akteurszentrierten Sichtweise [Schal1997], die insbesondere die unterschiedlichen Motivationen und Rationalitäten der handelnden Akteure betont.
