Der kompetenzorientierte Ansatz des Strategischen Managements ist ein Fortschritt, der seinerseits auf einem Fortschritt aufbaut. Das ist in der Wissenschaft gerade nicht selbstverständlich, wie die Wissenschaftsforschung seit Ludwik Fleck und Thomas Kuhn vorgeführt hat. Sie hat die Idee eines linearen, kumulativen Erkenntnisfortschritts ebenso nachhaltig dekonstruiert wie die Organisationsforschung die Idee einer vollständig oder auch nur primär dem Rationalprinzip folgenden Unternehmensführung. Auch wenn die Mehrheit daran immer noch glaubt. Aber der Fortbestand von Theorien war ja, anders als es Poppers Idealtheorie einer dem Rationalprinzip folgenden Wissenschaftslogik unterstellt, noch nie ein Indikator für ihre empirische Bewährung.
