Abstract
In this paper we provide a promising new heuristic approach for determining the final order lot size in the presence of product recovery which is required to deal with demand for spare parts after the end of regular production. In a small numerical study we show that this heuristic is able to yield nearoptimal results. Additionally, we give some insight into the extent of cost reduction that can be reached by exploiting the flexibility of product recovery in spare parts acquisition after end-of-production.*
