In diesem Kapitel wird eine eigene empirische Untersuchung der rationalen Partisantheorie des Konjunkturzyklus präsentiert. Dabei wird insbesondere auf die Kritik an der unzureichenden empirischen Berücksichtigung derWahlüberraschung eingegangen und der Grad der herrschenden Wahlüberraschung mit Hilfe von Wahlumfragedaten modelliert.
