Wer sich online engagiert, hat die Möglichkeit mit den Konsumenten in einen neuartigen Dialog zu treten. Interaktive Kommunikationsformate erlauben den direkten, individualisierten Austausch, welcher auch die aktive Nutzerrolle des neuen Konsumenten in der „on demand“-Welt am besten widerspiegelt. Dieses bislang noch ungenutzte Potenzial der Unternehmens-Kunden-Interaktion hat nun auch die Konsumgüterindustrie erkannt und verschiebt ihre Werbebudgets immer stärker von den klassischen Medien hin zu interaktiven Formaten. So prognostizierte die EIAA in ihrem Ad Barometer einen Anstieg des Anteils der Online-Medien am Gesamtmediabudget der Konsumgüterhersteller von 5,6 Prozent in 2005 auf 9,8 Prozent in 2008 (vgl. EIAA, 2006). Gleichzeitig bestätigen 65 Prozent der Marketingverantwortlichen in der Konsumgüterindustrie die Effektivität neuer Medien hinsichtlich der Erreichung der Zielgruppen und 83 Prozent sind davon überzeugt, dass sich Interaktives Marketing zu einem zunehmend wichtigeren Marketing-Tool entwickeln wird (vgl. Tickyes, 2008).
