Research Framework, Strategy and Design


A performance management framework integrating a managerial perspective was presented in the last chapter. The fourth chapter is dedicated to developing and presenting the research framework, strategy and design. Firstly, the overall research framework and a basic proposition will be presented. Secondly, detailed propositions will be derived that form the basis for the empirical research. Thirdly, the research strategy and design — combining both case-study research and survey research — will be illustrated.

    Attitudes can be defined as a learned predisposition to respond in a consistently favourable or unfavourable manner with respect to a given object. They are mindsets that are not directly observable, but can be drawn by the expression of opinions. An individual’s attitudes guide his behaviour, although it could be detected that individuals do not always behave consistently with their attitudes. Additionally, attitudes have three different components: an affective, cognitive, and conative one.
