Auszug

Due to changing market conditions, a lowering of trade-barriers and new technological developments, the competitive environment of firms has changed dramatically over the past decade. This means that even the smallest firms have to face an increasing international competitive environment right from the beginning of their organizational life-cycle. Such increasing importance of trans- and multi-national, economic activity exposes the firm to a number of opportunities and challenges alike forcing young ventures to enter foreign markets right from inception. Such an early internationalization behavior of young and small firms challenges established internationalization theories and traditional fields like international business, international management and also entrepreneurship research.
