Die Alterung der Erwerbs- und Wohnbevölkerung beschränkt sich keineswegs auf Deutschland. Auch in vielen Ländern Asiens ist sie zu beobachten. Während Japan die am schnellsten alternde Bevölkerung der Welt hat, sind die beiden bevölkerungsreichsten Nationen der Erde, China und Indien, erst in absehbarer Zeit mit diesem Phänomen konfrontiert. Die Wirkungen dürften jedoch gerade im Fall Chinas umso heftiger sein.
