Soll Business Reengineering mehr als nur ein Modekonzept sein, müssen die Strukturen des Unternehmens nachhaltig verändert werden, sodass ein umfassendes Prozessmanagement entsteht. Die drei Grundideen des Business Reengineering haben gezeigt, dass die Kernprozesse als neues Element der Organisationsgestaltung in den Mittelpunkt geriickt sind. Gelingt es dem Unternehmen, Kernprozesse zu identifizieren und so zu gestalten, dass sie den gesamten Wertschöpfungsprozess eines Produktes oder einer Dienstleistung umfassen, dann wäre das Schnittstellenproblem gelöst.
