Corporate strategy is one of the longest standing disciplines within the field of strategic management research. Classic works from Ronald Coase in 1937 to Michael Porter in 1985 (and many others in between and beyond) have covered enormous ground in the quest to build a theory of the firm that explains how firms define their boundaries, and why boundaries change.
