The concept of welfare capitalism refers to the notion that the welfare state is inextricably linked to central pillars of the economy (Esping-Andersen, 1990/ 1998, p. 2). In this context, Esping-Andersen (1990/ 1998) has addressed the interrelationships that bind the welfare state with distinctive labor market institutions.
