Abstract
In the late 1970s, an accumulation of technological know-how led to the dawn of personal computing. Michael Dell founded Dell in 1984 with a vision to sell computer systems directly to customers. During the last two and a half decades, the company has grown to be an industry leader and the number two provider of computer systems world-wide. Dell’s business model was designed to build and deliver the customized systems customers want, and to eliminate the inefficiencies that add to the cost. In the following years, Dell gained momentum with the introduction of new product offerings, such as, laptops, workstations, servers, storage and networking devices, additional mobility products, peripherals, software as well as services to its portfolio.
