Zusammenfassung

Der Fall des Eisernen Vorhangs im Jahr 1989 bot nicht nur Unternehmen die Möglichkeit, in die bisher abgeschotteten Märkte der Reformstaaten Mittel- und Osteuropas (MOE) zu expandieren, sondern eröffnete auch der international ausgerichteten betriebswirtschaftlichen Forschung (International Business) eine großartige Chance: die Beobachtung und Untersuchung der Transformation einer Vielzahl von Volkswirtschaften von einem zentralwirtschaftlichen zu einem marktwirtschaftlichen System sowie ihrer Auswirkungen auf Institutionen, Unternehmen, Märkte und das Entscheidungsverhalten von Managern und Konsument/innen. Niemals zuvor in der Geschichte haben so viele Länder in nahezu gleicher Zeit diesen fundamentalen wirtschaftlichen und gesellschaftlichen Systemwandel in Angriff genommen.
