Marken und ihre Produkte hatten eine besondere Stellung in der DDR. Sie wurden von Funktionären wahlweise genutzt – bei dringendem Valuta-Bedarf auch missbraucht –, um das finanzielle Überleben des Staates abzusichern, oder offiziell gebrandmarkt, weil sie ein kapitalistisches Relikt darstellten.
