Aufgrund der stagnierenden Märkte wächst die Weltautomobilproduktion derzeit nur um weniger als 1 Prozent pro Jahr.1 Wie in Kapitel 1 belegt, stagniert in den traditionellen Industrieländern der Triade (Nordamerika, Westeuropa und Japan) die Gesamtnachfrage bei etwa 42 Mio. Pkw, was sich auch künftig nicht ändern wird, weil mit dem Bevölkerungsrückgang in diesen Märkten der (Ersatz)Bedarf an Pkw sinkt. In den neuen Wachstumsmärkten agieren viele Automobilunternehmen wegen der großen Ungewissheit über die gegenwärtigen und zukünftigen Rahmenbedingungen sowie wegen der instabilen wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung noch eher verhalten.
