Fast 95 % der kleinen und mittelständischen Unternehmen in Deutschland stehen unter der Leitung ihres Eigentümers1 und knapp 500.000 neue Unternehmen werden jährlich gegründet2. Die Gründer dieser neuen Unternehmen, so zeigen viele Studien in diesem Gebiet, stellen einen wesentlichen Treiber für den Erfolg dieser jungen Unternehmen dar.3 Sie sind — mit wenigen Ausnahmen — im Gründungsprozess nicht ersetzbar und entscheiden mit ihren Fähigkeiten über Erfolg und Misserfolg des Gründungsgesche-hens.4 Dabei werden viele Unternehmen durch Personen gegründet, welche vorrangig an der anfänglichen Entwicklung eines neuen Produktes oder Marktes interessiert sind, aber nur wenig Interesse an Management-Aufgaben haben bzw. nicht über die für diese Aufgaben notwendigen Qualifikationen verfügen.5
