In der ersten Phase Activation (A1) kann zwischen dem intutiven Scanning und dem rationalen Monitoring unterschieden werden. Die darauf folgende Assessment-Phase (A2) unterscheidet zwischen intuitiver „strategic issue diagnosis“ (= SID) und analytischer „strategic issue analysis“ (SIA). Die Phase Action (A-3) differenziert intuitive-implizite von analytisch-rationalen Lernprozessen (Abbildung 5.1).
