Romania: Politics do matter
Romania lies on the Black Sea coast of South-eastern Europe. The country is divided by the Carpathian Mountains and the Transylvanian Alps into three historically and physically different regions: Wallachia, Moldova and Transylvania. It is bordered by Bulgaria to the south, Serbia and Hungary to the west and the Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova to the north. Lying at the outer rim of the European Union with three neighbouring countries that are not EU Member States adds some additional aspects to the country compared to the more central member states.
