Zusammenfassung
Kollektives Verhalten und Konsensentscheidungen sind Themen, mit denen sich die Sozialwissenschaften schon seit längerer Zeit beschäftigen. In der Biologie und insbesondere in der Verhaltensforschung sind dies relativ neue Themen, die in Bezug auf Wirbeltiere erst seit einigen Jahren aktuell sind. Hierbei ist anzumerken, dass die biologische Sichtweise sich von der sozialwissenschaftlichen in einigen Punkten unterscheidet, weil evolutionsbiologische Ansätze eine große Rolle spielen und auch neue Erkenntnisse aus dem Bereich der Selbstorganisation einfließen.
