Zusammenfassung

Before moving to the empirical results of the study, it is necessary to gain a better understanding of the data set. First, the major characteristics (industry and regional segmentation) of the Global 500 will be shown. Then, a breakdown will be provided, showing why 387 companies remain in the relevant sample although the overall data set contained 500. Afterwards, different characteristics, such as industry and regional segmentation, will be provided, followed by financial and operational figures such as sales, EBIT, and leverage.
