Abstract
The analysis and iterative comparison of the interview data made clear that open evaluation in innovation contests is not only taking place in different phases, with different designs and varying stakeholder groups, but also with quite different objectives and outcomes. In total, six objectives of open evaluation have been identified. These either focus on increasing the number and quality of submissions, or on providing information about submission quality for the purpose of decision-making.
