Zusammenfassung
Jede Epoche zeichnet sich durch besondere Formen der Führung aus. Dabei ist Führung nicht statisch, sondern unterliegt vielfältigen organisatorisch und gesellschaftlich begründeten Veränderungen. Derzeit zeigen sich diese Veränderungen als Übergänge zu neuen Formen der Führung, deren Neuigkeitswert Malone (2008: x) wie folgt beschreibt: „[…] die Art von Führung, die in diesen neuen Organisationen nötig ist, wird sich von der Führung in Organisationen des 20. Jahrhunderts unterscheiden, wie die Führung im Römischen Reich von der Führung bei Jägern und Sammlern.“ Die neuen Organisationen, die sich vor allem durch den konzentrierten Einsatz moderner Informations- und Kommunikationsmittel bzw. von sozialen Medien (social media) sowie die Arbeit in geografisch und zeitlich verteilten Strukturen auszeichnen, bringen neue Anforderungen an die Führung mit sich, die hier näher betrachtet werden sollen.
