Abstract
The car driver is believed to be the most prominent factor in concerns regarding the safety of vehicle control or road traffic – according to Treat et al. [269], approximately 70 – 90% of all accidents are the fault of the driver to a certain degree. Apart from factors like motor and cognitive abilities, fatigue, attitude, or alcohol use [270], the interaction between a driver and the vehicle itself has increasingly become the weak point of safety. The automobile (sub)systems are getting more and more reliable, safe, and comfortable due to technological advancement and experience in system and user interface design.
