Humans recognize their environment by means of ten or more senses (vision, hearing, touch, smell, taste, balance, temperature, pain, proprioceptive sensibility, “sixth sense”, etc.). A rough outline – taken and adapted from Silbernagel  and Bernadine Dias' lecture on “Robotics and Artificial Intelligence”  – is given in Table 2.1 below.
