Remote Access Mechanics as a Source of Threats to Enterprise Network Infrastructure

The issue of providing secure communication between mobile users and enterprise infrastructure is currently regarded as one of the main tasks for administrators. In the presented article the authors will conduct a discussion concerning remote access mechanics. For a significant number of enterprises information is the key element of business activity. Such information often proves to be the base of market activity and one of the most vital assets of an enterprise. The interest in the area of remote access solutions is growing rapidly, mainly due to organizational requirements and the necessity to maintain a position within the market.

Nowadays, many dynamically developing companies rely on IT systems to process information, which in many cases lacks appropriate protection. The authors shall attempt to introduce the issues of virtual private networks in the aspect of their significance for business, as well as the subject of Network Access Protection. Arguments in favor of using remote access shall be presented, based on the susceptibility analysis for various methods conducted by the authors.
