Abstract
In this chapter we will review some basics of applied geometry that are essential prerequisites for the following chapters. In particular, the concepts from computer aided geometric design (CAGD) are mandatory for isogeometric analysis, but we will also look at other prerequisites that in the same manner influence finite element analysis.
