Abstract
This chapter is intended to provide a brief overview of rheology in general (section 2.1), the definition of complex fluids and the challenge of their investigation (section 2.2), and the rheology of suspensions made of rigid particles (section 2.3) and deformable objects (section 2.4). A review of the physics of red blood cells and hemorheology is given in chap. 3.
