Aufgabe der Produktion ist die Herstellung von Fertigerzeugnissen aus Rohware, d.h. aus extern beschafften Materialien und Teilen. Im Zuge des Fertigungsprozesses können als Zwischenstufe Halbfabrikate entstehen, die selbst wiederum für die Produktion der Fertigerzeugnisse Verwendung finden.
