High Level Data Link Control (HDLC) ist ein Layer 2 Protokoll und basiert auf SDLC (Synchronous Data Link Control), dass in der IBM-Architektur SNA (Systems Network Architecture) verwendet wird. HDLC und HDLC-Varianten werden beispielsweise bei X.25, GSM, ISDN, Frame Relay und PPP verwendet.
