Unter Bioverfahrenstechnik wird allgemein die Anwendung von ingenieurwissenschaftlichen Prinzipien für die Entwicklung, Optimierung und den Betrieb von Produktionsprozessen auf der Basis biologischer Komponenten (Enzyme oder auch ganze pro- bzw. eukaryotische Zellen) verstanden.
