Zusammenfassung

Mit zunehmendem Verständnis der pathophysiologischen Grundlagen von Arrhythmien gewinnen auch Erkenntnisse zu geschlechtsspezifischen Unterschieden an Bedeutung, die einen Einfluss auf das akute und langfristige Management von Herzrhythmusstörungen haben können. Neben bereits gut bekannten elektrokardiographischen Unterschieden wie einer höheren Ruhefrequenz und einer längeren QTc-Zeit, zeigen sich auch Unterschiede in der klinischen Inzidenz und Manifestation verschiedener Arrhythmien. Dies betrifft bestimmte Formen paroxysmaler supraventrikulärer Tachykardien wie die AV-Knoten-Reentrytachykardie und das WPW-Syndrom, ebenso wie Vorhofflimmern, und Kammertachykardien. Insbesondere haben Frauen auch eine deutlich höhere Prävalenz sowohl angeborener als auch erworbener Formen des long-QT-Syndroms.
