Aktuelle Statistiken von Sportverletzungen belegen, dass der Sprunggelenkskomplex immer noch der am häufigsten bei Sportunfällen betroffene Körperteil ist [18] und die Bandverletzungen in diesem Bereich bei vielen verschiedenen Sportarten — insbesondere bei denen mit einem hohen Anteil von Sprungaktivitäten und/oder schnellen Richtungswechseln (wie z.B. beim Tennis, Abb. 1) — die „Hitliste“ anführen [8].
