Auszug
In der Tradition einer naturwissenschaftlichen Betrachtungsweise ist es sinnvoll, die Strukturen und Funktionen, auf welche ein therapeutisches Mittel einwirkt, und die Wirkungsweise der therapeutischen Maßnahme zu ergründen. Gleichzeitig machen wir uns auch Vorstellungen über die Mechanismen der Schmerzentstehung. Denn nur auf der Basis eines Ursachen-Wirkungs-Modells lassen sich, so nehmen wir wenigstens an, genauere Indikationen für einen gezielten Einsatz der therapeutischen Mittel festlegen. Leider zeigen sich aber bei verschiedenen schmerzhaften Zuständen wie z. B. Kopfschmerzen, Rückenschmerzen und eben auch Trauma bedingten Nackenschmerzen oft keine, mit den heute zur Verfügung stehenden diagnostischen Mitteln feststellbare, organische Veränderungen.
